The Baring Emerging Europe Trust PLC records sixth successive year of
outperformance
The Baring Emerging Europe Trust PLC, the London Stock Exchange listed
investment trust, announced today its preliminary results for the year to 30
April, 2001. Highlights include:
* Net asset value per share (diluted) of the fund declined by 25 per cent,
compared with a fall of 29 per cent in the BEMI Emerging Europe index. The
fall in net asset value per share this year compares to an increase of 51
per cent in 1999/2000.
* Since inception in January 1994, the net asset value of the fund has
increased at a compound annual rate of growth of 14 per cent
* During the year the Company purchased 5,635,000 of its own shares and
750,000 warrants for cancellation
* The Board remains positive about the longer term outlook for the region
