Change in Berry Birch & Noble PLC Board of Directors
Berry Birch & Noble PLC ('the Company' or 'BBN') announces that the board has
implemented management changes which will enable the group to develop going
forward.
Derek Mclaughlan has stepped down from the position of Chief Executive Officer
with effect from 12th April 2001 and has left to pursue other business
interests. Whilst Mr Mclaughlan has only been with the Company for less than
eight weeks, it was mutually agreed by the Company and Mr Mclaughlan that his
extensive skills and experience were best suited to large product provider
companies rather than a financial services distribution company.
Clifford Philip Lockyer, a board director of BBN since October 2000, has
accepted the position as acting Chief Executive Officer from 17th April 2001.
The Company's nomination committee is currently reviewing the permanent
appointment of another individual as Chief Executive Officer and the board
expects to make a further announcement in this regard in the near future.
Craig Butcher is appointed as Group Finance Director with immediate effect. Mr
Butcher replaces John Owen who left the company on 30th March 2001. Craig
Butcher is an economics graduate and qualified as a chartered accountant in
1990. He has recently completed an MBA graduating with distinction from
Warwick University. Mr Butcher trained with KPMG and thereafter spent eight
years working in the IT industry in a range of senior roles incorporating both
general and financial management. Mr Butcher has experience in mergers,
acquisitions, and business turnarounds and previously worked in financial
services as Group Finance Director of the Berkeley Financial Services Group.
Selwyn Herring and Clive Holmes have been appointed, with effect from 12th
April 2001, as non-executive directors of the Company to provide board level
experience in information technology and business development training
respectively.
Selwyn Herring joined the Financial Services Industry in 1987 from Cheltenham
College as a Paraplanner with Berkley Asset Management PLC. In 1994 he
co-founded Synaptic Systems and has clearly established the Company as the
leading infomediary in the supply of extensive 'Product Research Data' and
'Decision Enhancing' software solutions. In 1997, Mr Herring was promoted from
Technical Director to Managing Director and since that time has formulated and
delivered on the strategic vision of the Company in developing new products.
Clive Homes joined the Life Insurance Industry with insurance brokers in West
London in 1964, after two years dealing with estate duty and mortgages, he
joined Abbey Life in 1966 where he spent the next twenty years of his career.
In 1972 he founded the Life Insurance Association and holds the title of
Founder President. In 1987 he was co-founder of the Institute of Financial
Planning. He has specialised in developing the corporate market and is an
expert on all of business and corporate sales. Mr Holmes has become a
certified Trainer and Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, a
modern science dedicated to the creation and attainment of excellence. Within
the financial services industry he has, against industry trends, brought a
massive increase in the performance of hundreds of UK independent financial
advisers and is now recognised as the UK's leading sales psychologist.

The board anticipate making additional executive and non-executive
appointments over the next six months.
