Response to BioProgress plc statement


In response to the statement issued by BioProgress plc on 21 October 2003, the
Board of Stanelco would like to clarify the current situation.

On 20 October 2003, Stanelco issued proceedings in the High Court against
BioProgress in response to a letter sent to the company by solicitors acting for
BioProgress - McDermott, Will & Emery - regarding Stanelco's patents and patent
applications for 'Radio Frequency (RF) welding water soluble film for making
capsules'.

Stanelco notes that BioProgress intends to commence proceedings against Stanelco
Fibre Optics.  Stanelco considers that the BioProgress claims are entirely
without merit and will be strongly resisted.  Stanelco will take all actions
necessary to protect its ownership of all patents and thereby safeguard
shareholder value.
