Lucent Technologies. Stanelco is now the largest independent supplier of
zirconia and graphite fibre optic furnaces in the world.
Enquiries continue to remain strong and the company has a record outstanding
order book of £1,500,000. There continues to be strong growth in the company's
consumable business.
Future Prospects
The group continues to search actively for appropriate acquisition targets and
is currently looking at a number of high tech opportunities.
The group is pleased to announce that it has entered into the first of these
opportunities by signing a joint venture agrement with AEA Technology PLC, for
the exploitation of certain technology developed and patented by Stanelco. AEA
Technology and Stanelco have subsequently signed a technical evaluation
agreement with a substantial pharmaceutical company to evaluate this technology.
Under this agreement the pharmaceutical company has agreed to pay the joint
venture £100,000 in exchange for an exclusive period to evaluate the technology.
There can be no assurance that, following such review, the pharmaceutical
company will conclude that there is commercial value in the technology or even,
if the arrangements between the parties do then go onto a further stage that
there will be any material increase in the value of Stanelco. Nevertheless, the
directors are very encouraged by this development.
