Forbidden brings Cloud video tools to Android OS
Forbidden Technologies, the Cloud video platform developer, is pleased to announce that it has pushed further into mobile territory with an Android tablet version of Clesh. Clesh is Forbidden's consumer targeted Cloud video editing and sharing software. Android is Google's mobile operating system.
There is an explosion in the availability of internet enabled devices, including desktop PCs, home computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones. This has created a need to access material on multiple devices. Hosting video in the Cloud is an effective way of allowing access from anywhere at any time, from any internet device.
The tablet design, with its high resolution touch screen, is well suited for the simple but powerful Clesh drag-and-drop user interface. The relatively fast ARM Central Processing Units (CPUs), and internet connectivity through 3G and/or WiFi, also play to the strengths of Forbidden's Cloud-based video editing, publishing and hosting software.
The release of the Samsung Galaxy S Tab this month has enabled Forbidden to develop its Android tablet version of Clesh. The built in camera and Cloud access enable an end-to-end consumer workflow, including shooting, editing, publishing and playback.
The web version of Clesh provides video editing and publishing from within a web browser on PCs and Macs; the Android version of Clesh similarly allows video editing and publishing, but this time on a tablet. Edits are synchronised with the Cloud - and are immediately available from any PC, Mac or tablet running Clesh.
Forbidden's professional offering, FORscene, has already handled over 1,000,000 hours of professionally shot content. FORscene's capability to add metadata for search is widely used by its professional customers to speed up editing. This facility is also available in Clesh, making consumer videos published in Clesh readily accessible to search engines.
The new range of tablet devices, with their online app store charging and delivery infrastructure, presents a promising way into the consumer market.
Forbidden intends to use the Android market to sell Clesh directly to consumers.
Stephen Streater, founder and CEO of Forbidden Technologies, said:
"My children will be as fluent in video as I am in text. Social networking sites like Facebook and YouTube are ideal for disseminating their videos.
"The explosion of Internet-enabled devices gives consumers a real incentive to use Cloud-based applications. They are accessible everywhere, at any time, across multiple devices.
With its high resolution screen, Internet connectivity and camera, the tablet is well placed to access the consumer video editing market. And tablets look set to gain in popularity, with Gartner recently predicting media tablet sales would rise rapidly to over 200m unit sales in 2014.
"The Cloud, Internet video, and new mobile devices are three of the most exciting growth areas in technology. Forbidden's Android version of Clesh brings all three together in a modern setting - the tablet."
