AGM Statement
At today's AGM of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, Nigel Newton, Chairman, will make
the following statement:
'In 2006, Bloomsbury has a strong list from its existing portfolio of authors,
including Joanna Trollope, Susanna Clarke and Ben Schott, as well as authors new
to our list, including William Boyd, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and William
Dalrymple. It has also recently been announced that The Highest Tide by Jim
Lynch has been selected as one of the six books for the Richard and Judy Book
Club this July.
In May, we acquired Methuen Drama Limited which is now being integrated with A&C
Black's existing drama list. The list includes plays by top contemporary authors
such as Caryl Churchill, Michael Frayn as well as established classics by Henrik
Ibsen and Oscar Wilde.
We are continuing vigorously to build our position as an international
publisher. With the strength of the publishing and rights programmes in the
second half, the Board remains confident that Bloomsbury will perform in line
with its expectations for the year as a whole.'
