                       Appointment of Commercial Director

BowLeven, the African oil and gas exploration and development group with
operations currently in Cameroon in West Africa, announces the appointment of
Peter Wilson as Commercial Director of the Company with effect from 1 April
2005. Peter is also taking on the responsibilities of General Counsel and
Company Secretary.

Peter has been advising the BowLeven Group on general corporate and contractual
issues for a number of years and has considerable experience of oil and gas
commercial matters. Peter has joined from McClure Naismith, the Company's
solicitors, where he was a corporate partner. His role at McClure Naismith
involved advising and co-ordinating advice on a wide spectrum of corporate and
commercial matters including acquisitions and disposals, the raising of capital
and the structure and form of joint ventures.
