BP BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT
The board of BP p.l.c. today announced that Mr Richard J Ferris (64) is
retiring as a non-executive director with effect from Friday, June 8, 2001.
Mr Ferris was appointed to the board in December 1998 when the merger between
BP and Amoco was completed. He had previously been a director of Amoco since
1981. Mr Ferris has served with BP as a member of the Chairman's Committee and
of the Remuneration Committee.
He is also a non-executive director of The Proctor & Gamble Company.
The board said that with the retirement of Mr Ferris, the number of
non-executive directors on the board would fall to ten, in line with its aim
over time to evolve to a smaller board.
