Bradda Head Lithium Ltd.
("Bradda Head" or the "Company")
Drill Rig Mobilised at San Domingo Lithium Pegmatite Project
Bradda Head Lithium Ltd. (AIM: BHL, OTCQB: BHLIF), the North America-focused lithium development group, is delighted to announce that a drill rig has been mobilised to site to commence immediate drilling at the Company's San Domingo lithium pegmatite project in Arizona.
·
|
Bradda Head has now mobilised a drill rig to commence drilling this week at its c.13km2 San Domingo pegmatite project in Central Arizona, USA, following receipt of the bond adjudication (see RNS dated 21st June 2022). This is the first drill programme at this historic pegmatite district since the 1950s; |
· |
The permitted programme at San Domingo is for 30 holes, equivalent to approximately 7,000m of diamond core drilling, and is planned to test the thesis that San Domingo is similar in structure to other well-known zoned pegmatites, like Liontown's (Market Capitalisation AU$2.1 billion) Kathleen Valley pegmatite project in Australia; |
· |
This drilling programme continues the fieldwork at San Domingo, including mapping, geophysics, surface sampling, and a recent 3D mapping exercise conducted by SRK (results soon to be announced). Channel sample grades previously identified at our named pegmatites were as high as 2.49%Li2O; |
· |
The 30-hole programme has been planned using a combination of data sources, including the ongoing 3D mapping being conducted by SRK, geophysics carried out by Terravision (See RNS dated 2nd November 2021), locations of historical lithium mining operations, previous channel sampling, and ground truthing by Bradda Head geologists; |
· |
This programme is one of many that Bradda Head has planned for the remainder of 2022. Permits are also expected shortly from the Company's Basin East Extension claim block which is adjacent to Basin East where Bradda Head has a JORC-compliant resource containing 305kt of Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE). On receipt of the permit Bradda will also move to commence a drilling programme at its Basin project (sedimentary-hosted lithium) at the same time as drilling at the San Domingo pegmatite project. |
Charles FitzRoy, CEO of Bradda Head Lithium, commented:
"Our San Domingo pegmatite district is extensive, covering c.13km2 and was historically mined for lithium in the 1940s and 1950s within our permitted license area. It also contains historical gold, silver, copper, and vanadium mining operations. With the vocal and growing demand within the USA for its own lithium supply, and recognising the history of successful commercial mining of pegmatites at San Domingo, a successful pegmatite exploration programme at San Domingo should quickly catch the attention of North American end-users and battery manufacturers. As a consequence, this programme is a very significant step forward for us. We're very excited to understand the true extent of pegmatite mineralisation at depth, following channel sampling with grades up to 2.49% Li2O, as well as grab samples with grades up to 8% Li2O, initially taken back in 2016.
"The development of our pegmatite assets is also particularly significant as it opens up a second exploration target with a totally different mineralisation style to our Arizona Basin lithium-in-clay deposits. Pegmatite mining and processing routes are well-established worldwide, and a successful drilling campaign will allow Bradda Head to move forward quickly to an Operational Study phase.
"With all of our planned exploration drilling activity fully funded we are comfortable to move on the two fronts concurrently: lithium pegmatites at San Domingo and lithium clays at Basin. We have expanded our team in preparation for this increased activity. We have a well-prepared programme for the rest of this year in both locations, and we are confident that our anticipated deposits can drive further value for shareholders."
Background
On 21st June 2022 Bradda Head received conditional permission to begin a drilling programme at its San Domingo pegmatite district in Arizona, pending the receipt of bond payment adjudication. The bond adjudication was completed on 12th July 2022 and Bradda now has permission to drill at its San Domingo pegmatite project.
The drilling programme is planned following initial results from the ongoing geophysical programme carried out by geospatial imaging contractor Terravision Exploration Ltd., at the central and southwestern sections of San Domingo. The results demonstrated that there is potential for the extension of pegmatite mineralisation at depth, which also aligns with previous geological modelling from the Company's geological team. The northern block of the San Domingo district was also surveyed in early 2022 and demonstrated similar results.
Recent 3D mapping conducted by SRK added to the understanding of the structure and also led Bradda Head to extend its drilling programme. Further drilling is now required to test and add to Bradda Head's knowledge of the extent of the structures underground.
Previous surface sampling at named outcropping pegmatites in the San Domingo claim block returned grades of:
· Midnight Owl: 1.44% Li2O
· Joker: 0.35% Li2O
· White Ridge: 2.49% Li2O
· Lower Jumbo: 1.62% Li2O
· Sunrise: 0.67% Li2O
· North Morning Star: 0.92% Li2O
See map on website for locations of these pegmatites:
These pegmatites display a weathered appearance, thus the surface lithium grades are likely to be lower than deeper drilling where pegmatites have been less affected by the weathering processes.
Bradda Head's San Domingo pegmatite district was mined at surface previously in the 1940s and 1950s for lithium and other minerals. Claims were initially staked by BHL after grab samples taken by Bradda Head's geological team in 2016 demonstrated the presence of lithium enriched spodumene in grades ranging up to 8% Li2O.

Notes to Editors
Bradda Head Lithium Ltd. is a North America-focused lithium development group. The Company currently has interests in a variety of projects, the most advanced of which are in Central and Western Arizona: The Basin Project (Basin East Project, and the Basin West Project) and the Wikieup Project.
The Basin East Project has an Indicated Mineral Resource of 17.6Mt at an average grade of 912ppm Li and 3.4%K for a total of 86kt LCE and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 57.6Mt at an average grade of 717ppm Li and 3.3%K for a total of 220kt LCE. In the rest of the Basin Project SRK has estimated an Exploration Target of between 300 and 1,300Mt of material grading between 600 and 850ppm Li which is equivalent to a range of between 1 and 6Mt LCE.
The Group intends to continue to develop its three phase one projects in Arizona, whilst endeavouring to unlock value at its other prospective pegmatite and brine assets in Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
All of Bradda Head's licences are held on a 100% equity basis and are in close proximity to the required infrastructure.
Bradda Head is quoted on the AIM of the London Stock Exchange with the ticker of BHL and on the US OTCQB market with a ticker of BHLIF.
