Sir Graham Hearne appointed Non-Executive Director of
Seascope
Seascope Shipping Holdings PLC, which provides
specialised broking and consultancy services to the
international shipowning, shipbuilding and oil
industries, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sir
Graham Hearne CBE to the Board as a non-executive
director from October 7.
A qualified solicitor, Sir Graham Hearne is currently
Chairman of Enterprise Oil, one of the world's leading
independent oil exploration and production companies. He
is a non-executive Chairman of Caradon plc, a non-
executive director of N M Rothschild & Sons Ltd and
Invensys plc and non-executive Deputy Chairman of the
Gallaher Group PLC. Before joining Enterprise in 1984,
he was Group Managing Director of Carless, Capel and
Leonard plc, having been previously Finance Director of
Courtaulds, Chief Executive of Tricentrol plc.
Sir Graham held the post of High Sheriff of Greater
London in 1995.

Sir Graham J. Hearne CBE, 61, has an extensive background
in both the legal and business professions. He is
Chairman of Enterprise Oil, one of the world's leading
independent oil exploration and production companies, a
firm with listings on both the New York and London Stock
Exchanges, and a non-executive Deputy Chairman of
Gallaher Group Plc. He also holds a non-executive
directorship of N M Rothschild & Sons Ltd.
Before assuming this post, Hearne was Group Managing
Director of Carless, Capel and Leonard (1983-1984), Chief
Executive of Tricentrol (1981-1983), and Finance Director
of Courtaulds (1977-1981).
After qualifying as a solicitor in 1959, Hearne has
worked for law firms both in the UK and in New York. As
well as these appointments, Hearne has held non-executive
director positions at various companies. These include
BPB Industries plc, Reckitt & Coleman plc, Wellcome plc
and Northern Foods Ltd.
He was educated at the George Dixon Grammar School,
Birmingham, and at the College of Law. A member of the
Law society, he held the post of High Sheriff of Greater
London in 1995.
