Special Dividend, Auditors, Company Secretary and Registered Office
1. Special Dividend
The Board of British & American Investment Trust PLC announces the payment
of a special dividend of 2.5 pence per £1 Ordinary share on 30th January
2002 to shareholders on the register on 4th January 2002. This is the
final instalment of four special dividends paid following the
reconstruction in 2000 of one of the group's investments, Esporta PLC
(formerly, First Leisure PLC).
2. Auditors
The Board has conducted a review of audit and tax advisory costs over
recent years and as a result has appointed Deloitte & Touche to replace
Andersen (formerly BDO Binder Hamlyn) as auditors and tax advisors to the
group with immediate effect. Deloitte & Touche are a leading firm of
auditors with over 30 investment trust audit clients in the UK. Deloitte &
Touche will audit the group's full year results to 31st December 2001 and
their appointment will be submitted to the next AGM for confirmation as is
customary. The Board thanks Andersen for its longstanding assistance over
many years.
3. Company Secretary
On 19th December 2001, Keith Williams, ACA, previously head of finance of
World Investor Link Ltd, part of the WILink.com plc group, was appointed
company secretary following the retirement of David Humphrey. The Board
thanks David Humphrey for the 10 years of service he provided to the
group.
4. Registered Office
With effect from 19th December 2001, the registered office of British &
American Investment Trust PLC and its subsidiaries, BRITAM Investments Ltd,
British and American Films Ltd and British and American Investments has
changed to: Wessex House, 1 Chesham Street, London SW1X 8ND. Telephone: 0207
201 3100. Fax: 0207 201 3101. The change of registered address will not
involve any additional cost to the group.
