BOARD CHANGE
British American Tobacco announces that Mr Piet Beyers is joining the Board as
Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.
Piet Beyers is a South African with extensive experience in marketing and
general management in the food, liquor, tobacco and advertising industries. He
is currently an Executive Director of Richemont and a Non-Executive Director of
Remgro, formerly known as Rembrandt. Prior to joining the Rembrandt group in
1997, he was Chairman of FCB (Cape), having previously been Managing Director of
Cadbury, South Africa.
Welcoming Piet to the Board, Martin Broughton, Chairman of British American
Tobacco, said: "In representing the Richemont and Remgro shareholdings on the
Board, Piet's marketing background will complement Thys Visser's financial
skills very well. The Board as a whole has benefited from having two such
supportive shareholders and I am sure that my successor will value the
relationship as much as I have."
