MANAGEMENT BOARD APPOINTMENT AT
BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO
Tony Jones, Regional Director, Asia-Pacific has decided to retire at the end of
March 2005, having been a member of the Management Board since the merger with
Rothmans in 1999. Tony will be succeeded by John Daly, currently Area Director,
Middle East & North Africa, on 1st October 2004.
Commenting on the moves, Paul Adams, Chief Executive of British American
Tobacco, said: "In welcoming John to the Management Board, I should like to
thank Tony for the contribution he has made to the Group ever since the merger.
The quality of our business in Asia-Pacific has never been higher and Tony has
been a tireless champion of a common sense approach to management. I wish Tony
a long and happy retirement. He will be a hard act for John to follow but I am
very pleased to welcome John to the Management Board and am sure his breadth of
experience and outstanding performance will stand him in good stead for the
future."
