The British Land Company PLC announces that it received notification on 7th July
2004, pursuant to sections 198-202 of the Companies Act 1985, that Morley Fund
Management Limited ( a subsidiary of Aviva plc ( formerly CGNU plc ) has the
following notifiable interest in the Company's ordinary 25p shares:

Disclosure of the total share interest of Aviva plc (14,763,846 shares(3.025%))
was made on 2nd July 2004 and this included the total shareholding of Morley
Fund Management Limited at that date.
