Board Announcement

The Board of The British Land Company PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of two new non-executive directors with effect from Ist January 2010.They are Richard Pym, Chairman of Bradford & Bingley plc and BrightHouse Group Ltd and Dido Harding, Convenience Director at Sainsbury's.

Mr Pym will join the Audit Committee and Ms Harding will join the Remuneration Committee.

Chris Gibson-Smith, Chairman said "In Richard Pym and Dido Harding, we have two first class recruits to our Board. They bring us deep financial and retail experience which enhance our overall skills and strength."

Aubrey Adams, until May 2008 Chief Executive of Savills, a global property services provider.

Richard Pym

He is Chairman of Bradford & Bingley plc and BrightHouse Group Limited and formerly Chief Executive of Alliance & Leicester plc. He is also a non-executive director of Old Mutual plc. He was formerly Chairman of Halfords Group Plc, a Vice President of the British Bankers Association and a non-executive director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Selfridges Plc.

Dido Harding

She is Convenience Director and a member of Sainsbury Plc's Operating Board. She previously held senior management positions within Tesco Plc, Kingfisher Plc and Thomas Cook Ltd.
