BT INTERNET INTRODUCES UNLIMITED EVENING SURFING
AND A CUT PRICE SUBSCRIPTION FOR NET GENERATION
BT Internet customers are to be offered unlimited Internet access
every evening in addition to the current weekend offer and a cut of
15 per cent on subscription fees, BT announced today.
From tomorrow, BT Internet customers will get unlimited Internet
calls in the evenings (from 6pm to midnight) and on weekends (from
Friday midnight to Sunday midnight) for a new monthly subscription
fee of just £9.99, reduced from £11.75. This will give BT Internet
users up to 78 hours surfing time every week. Outside the unlimited
surfing times, users will only pay local call rates*. The annual
subscription fee has also been reduced from £129.25 to £109.89,
offering 12 months service for the price of 11.
Ben Andradi, managing director of BT Internet and e-Business,
said: 'This new offering demonstrates our commitment to get everyone
in the UK on the Internet. It supports our strategy to become the
leading consumer ISP and portal, and is the first in a series of
Internet initiatives building the net generation.
'BT Internet will provide consumers with more than 312 hours
unlimited surfing time every month for just £9.99. Users can surf at
their leisure and fully discover the benefits of the online society,
giving them great value for their money.'
The move makes BT Internet one of the most competitive ISPs
available - offering great value for money, with unlimited Internet
access during the time that most people use the world wide web. This
will enable customers to spend evening and weekends downloading new
software from the Internet, e-booking holidays or replying to e-mails
with no worries about the cost of Internet calls whilst online. It
will provide even bigger savings for many customers than subscription-
free ISPs.
BT Internet will also introduce a SMS (short messaging service)
facility powered by Genie - the UK's first and leading mobile ISP
from BTCellnet - enabling messages to be sent to mobile phones from a
PC.
BT Internet provides excellent links to a host of entertainment,
travel, news, education, shopping, sport Web sites and information
services such as the leading directory service, yell.com.
