Acquisition of Business

Caffyns plc ('the Company') announces that it has today purchased the retail
business and certain assets of the Volkswagen dealership covering the Brighton
and Hove territory from Appleyard Motor Company Limited. The Company has
acquired the goodwill, equipment and certain stock for a consideration of
£515,000 payable in cash.

The management accounts show that the retail business made a profit before
taxation in the year ended 31 December 2003 of £163,000 on turnover of £11.225m.

The Company is delighted to represent Volkswagen in Brighton and Hove, which
complements its existing Volkswagen representation in Worthing, Haywards Heath
and Eastbourne.

The Company will announce its preliminary results for the year ended 31 March
2004 on 3 June.
