                             PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

Caffyns announces that on 29 November 2002 it purchased for cancellation under
an existing authority granted by shareholders 65,500 ordinary shares of 50p each
in the market at a price of 430p each, representing approximately 2.23% of
its issued share capital.  There remain 2,875,825 ordinary shares in issue.
