Appointment of Non-Executive Director



The board of Caledonia Investments plc ('Caledonia') is pleased to announce the
appointment of Richard Goblet d'Alviella as an independent non-executive
director with immediate effect.



Since 1989, Mr Goblet d'Alviella has been Chief Executive Officer of Sofina s.a.
('Sofina'), a quoted Belgian financial holding company with assets of some
€2.5bn.  Prior to joining Sofina, he was a managing director of the Paine Webber
Group and has a 15-year background in international investment banking in London
and New York. A Belgian national, Mr Goblet d'Alviella holds a commercial
engineer's degree from the University of Brussels and a Master's degree in
business administration from Harvard Business School. He is 56.



Commenting on the appointment, Peter Buckley, Chairman of Caledonia, said:



'I am delighted that Richard Goblet d'Alviella has agreed to join us as a
non-executive director.  His considerable knowledge and experience in corporate
finance and investment management, particularly in continental Europe, will
provide a valuable additional resource to the board.'
