In accordance with paragraph 15.9 of the Listing Rules we announce that Camellia
Plc purchased for cancellation, 9,000 ordinary shares of 10p each of Camellia
Plc. Details are:

18th July 2002 - 9,000 ordinary shares at £33 per share



As a result of the above and other recent purchases of the company's ordinary
shares by Camellia Plc, for cancellation, the percentage holding of ordinary
shares in Camellia Plc. held by Camellia AG is now 53.78% representing 1,420,000
ordinary shares.

Camellia Plc is the ultimate holding company of the undernoted companies and
Camellia AG is, therefore, deemed to be interested in a further 62,500 ordinary
shares of Camellia Plc (2.36%).

Assam-Dooars Holdings Limited 1.61%

Western Dooars Tea Holdings Limited 0.75%
