CAIRN ENERGY PLC ('Cairn' or 'the Company')
Delisting from the Australian Stock Exchange ('ASX')
Following a prolonged period of low levels of trading activity and volume in
Cairn shares on the ASX the Company announces that it has received permission
to delist from the ASX.
Cairn shares will be suspended from trading on the ASX at the close of trading
on 2 May 2000 and delisting will occur on 9 May 2000.
A letter will be sent to all shareholders whose shares are traded on the ASX
prior to suspension detailing arrangements made by Cairn and D&D-Tolhurst Ltd,
an Australian stockbroker, to facilitate the sale of shares by Australian
shareholders.
Shareholders retaining their shares on delisting will have their holdings
transferred from Cairn's Australian share register to the United Kingdom share
register. Following delisting from the ASX, Cairn shares will be traded on the
London Stock Exchange only.
