Carillion joint venture wins £360 million
worth of Railtrack contracts
GTRM, Carillion's specialist infrastructure maintenance company, jointly owned
with Alstom UK Ltd, has been awarded contracts worth over £360 million by
Railtrack.
The largest of the awards is the West Coast Main Line (South) Infrastructure
Maintenance contract. In addition, GTRM has won other maintenance contracts in
mid-Wales and Gloucester.
The West Coast Main Line work comprises the maintenance of 418 track miles of
railway infrastructure, including permanent way, signalling, electrification
and off track between London Euston and Madeley, near Crewe.
The awards reflect the strong relationship that has been established between
GTRM and Railtrack as a result of working in partnership under the new
contractual arrangements that have been operating successfully on a number of
other contracts awarded to GTRM last year.
GTRM therefore continues to be one of the market leaders in rail
infrastructure and the consistent number one performer in Railtrack's KPI
league table.
Steven Marshall, Chief Executive of Railtrack, says, 'GTRM has performed
consistently well over the past year in Railtrack's Key Performance
Indicators. This performance coupled with our joint commitment to work in
partnership provides an excellent opportunity to improve reliability of the
infrastructure and the service to our customers in the new contract period.'
Carillion executive director Roger Robinson says, 'We are delighted to secure
this important maintenance contract for the West Coast Main Line. We are
pleased to build on the extensive work that we already do in alliance with
Railtrack as this has consistently been shown to achieve the levels of
performance necessary for the successful delivery of the rail investment
programme.'

Note to Editors
In addition to being a market leader in rail maintenance, where Carillion and
its partners maintain around a quarter of the rail network, Carillion also
carries out projects to upgrade and modernise the network, notably on the West
Coast Mainline where we currently have a number of major contracts that form
part of the West Coast Route Modernisation project.
Carillion also provides track renewal services through its wholly owned
subsidiary, Centrac.
