FLOTATION ON THE ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENT MARKET
Newsplayer Group PLC ('Newsplayer' or the 'Company'), a new media
company, which has established an innovative video-on-demand
product providing television and cinema newsreel footage which
spans the 20th century, is pleased to announce the details of its
flotation on the Alternative Investment Market of the London
Stock Exchange ('AIM').
The Company is raising approximately £10.15 million (£9.55
million net of expenses) of new money by way of a placing with
institutional and other investors.
The net proceeds of the Placing will be used to fund the on-going
working capital requirements of the Company and will allow the
Directors to increase marketing spend and fund in whole or in
part any future strategic alliances with media and Internet
companies and acquisitions.
Investec Henderson Crosthwaite, a division of Investec Bank (UK)
Limited, is Nominated Adviser and Nominated Broker to the
Company. The Placing has been fully underwritten by Investec
Bank (UK) Limited.
Key Points
* Placing of 16,071,428 Ordinary Shares at 84p per share,
including 3,991,071 Ordinary Shares to raise £3.35 million on
behalf of existing shareholders
* Market capitalisation including new money of £55 million at
the Placing Price
* Dealings expected to commence on 30 May 2000
* Newplayer's agreement with ITN gives it access to ITN's
output on ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, together with the
entire Reuters television archive and Paramount, Gaumont,
British Empire News, Visnews and French Pathi newsreels
* Strategic alliances with major media and technology partners
including Microsoft, Yahoo! Europe and Hollinger International
Inc.
* Newsplayer database contains video material from 1896 to the
present day and users can stream any of the 14,000 video clips
on request
* Multiple revenue generating streams via business-to-consumer,
business-to-business and business-to-education subscriptions,
merchandising, sponsorship and advertising and technical
services
* Management team with experience in media and the Internet
