                  Chairman to Undergo Planned Heart Operation

Celtic plc chairman Brian Quinn is to undergo a scheduled operation to replace a
defective heart valve next week.

Mr Quinn (69) will undergo the operation at a London hospital and is expected to
return to his duties at the company after a period of several weeks
recuperation.

Celtic independent non-executive director Brian Wilson will assume the position
of acting chairman in the interim.
