                            Appointment of Director

The Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Herbert Stuart
Bottomley (age 60) to the Board of Centamin Egypt Limited ('Centamin' or 'the
Company') effective Monday, the 26th September 2005.

Mr Bottomley worked as a portfolio manager for over twenty years, firstly
with the 'Target Group' of unit trusts and subsequently with Fidelity
International. For the last twelve years, he has acted as a consultant to a
number of private and public companies with a growing emphasis on the mining
industry.

Mr Bottomley holds a total of 3,000,000 ordinary shares in Centamin representing
0.6% of the total issued share capital of the Company.

The following information is disclosed in accordance with Schedule Two,
paragraph (g) of the AIM Rules:

• Mr Bottomley is currently a non-executive director of ISIS Resources Plc and 
  African Consolidated Resources Plc (unlisted). In the previous five (5) years, 
  Mr Bottomley has not been a director of any other company.

• There are no further disclosures to be made under Schedule Two, paragraph 
  (g) (iii) to (viii) of the AIM Rules.
