Divisional Reorgansation
Centaur Media PLC
15 February 2008
Centaur Media plc
("Centaur" or the "Group")
Reorganisation of Marketing & Creative Division
to drive growth in new product development
Following a strategic review of its publishing operations, certain
organisational changes are to be implemented in order to facilitate a more
consistent multi-media strategy across all sectors in the Group and to drive
growth in new product development.
Tim Potter, MD Business Publishing, is to take direct responsibility for the key
brands in the Marketing & Creative Division, bringing them under a single
management for the first time. Tim will implement plans to deliver an effective
programme of new product development, with a particular emphasis on online
product and a greater integration between our major brands in this division, in
line with the successful strategies pursued in other Centaur divisions.
As a result of these changes, three senior Publishing Directors will leave
Centaur to pursue other opportunities outside the Group.
Geoff Wilmot, Chief Executive Officer, said: "The emergence of the internet as a
communication and marketing tool is creating significant opportunities and
challenges for the marketing and creative services communities. Centaur owns the
leading brands serving these markets, including Marketing Week, New Media Age,
mad.co.uk, Design Week and Creative Review, which report within the Marketing
and Creative Division.
"When we announce our Interim Results on 28th February, we expect to report
satisfactory underlying growth in revenues and margins in this Division in the
first half of our financial year. However, we believe that the future long-term
growth opportunities for this Division will be greatly enhanced by the adoption
of a more coordinated strategy, in order to take full advantage of the
exceptional brands we own and the market relationships that stem from them.
"Tim Potter has worked at Centaur for 21 years, initially on Money Marketing,
one of Centaur's leading titles, where he became editor and then publisher.
Subsequently, he took responsibility for Centaur's largest division, Legal &
Financial, which has delivered exceptional growth and margin improvement in the
past four years. In July 2006, he was appointed MD Business Publishing, with
responsibility for all of Centaur's business publishing operations. He has
exceptional experience of publishing across all media and is ideally equipped to
develop and deliver effective solutions for this sector."
