CHEMRING GROUP PLC
KILGORE FLARES AWARDED ADDITIONAL $30.9 MILLION FLARE CONTRACT
Chemring Group PLC ("Chemring") is pleased to announce that its US subsidiary, Kilgore Flares Company LLC ("Kilgore"), based in Toone, Tennessee, has been awarded an additional delivery order valued at $30.9 million under its IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity) contract for the supply of MJU-39 and MJU-40 infra-red (IR) decoy flares to the US Department of Defense. The flares are used by the US Air Force to protect the F-22 Raptor aircraft from the threat of IR guided missiles. The IDIQ contract, which was awarded in November 2009, was to extend over a four year period, with a maximum potential value of $54.9 million. With this additional delivery order, the contract has now reached its ceiling of $54.9 million, and Kilgore's order book will cover deliveries through to May 2012.
Dr David Price, Chief Executive of Chemring, commented "The fact that the US Air Force has maximised its contract value with Kilgore within only five months of the initial award is a testament to Kilgore's outstanding reputation and the quality of deliveries it has been making to the US Department of Defense."
Chemring is an international leader in defensive countermeasures and energetic materials. The countermeasures division comprises Alloy Surfaces Company, Inc. and Kilgore Flares Company LLC in the US, and Chemring Countermeasures Limited in the UK.
