FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 13 DECEMBER 2016
CHEMRING GROUP PLC
APPOINTMENT OF GROUP FINANCE DIRECTOR
Chemring Group PLC ("Chemring" or "the Group") is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Lewis as Group Finance Director.
Until 30 November 2016 Andrew was Group Finance Director of Avon Rubber p.l.c. ("Avon"), a role he held since September 2008. In partnership with the former CEO, he was instrumental in the turnaround and subsequent growth of Avon from a £10m to £300m market capitalisation company. He has a strong track record of consistent organic earnings growth and cash generation, supplemented by technology driven M&A activity. In 2015 he performed the Interim CEO role, following the retirement of the previous CEO.
Andrew was awarded the Finance Director of the Year Award at the Quoted Company Awards in 2016 and the Young Finance Director of the Year Award at the ICAEW Financial Director's Excellence Awards in May 2011. He also gained a wide range of international experience as a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Bristol and New Zealand before joining Rotork p.l.c. as Group Financial Controller. He holds a 1st Class joint honours degree in Mathematics and Accounting from the University College of North Wales, Bangor and is a Fellow of the ICAEW.
Andrew will join Chemring on 9 January 2017 and will join the Board of Chemring on 19 January 2017, following publication of the Group's final results for the year ended 31 October 2016. He will take over from Andrew Davies, Deputy Group Finance Director, who was appointed Interim Finance Director following the departure of Steve Bowers on 30 September 2016.
Carl-Peter Forster, Chairman of Chemring, said:
"I am delighted to welcome Andrew to Chemring's Board. He has a proven track record of success within our sector and enhancing shareholder value.
Considerable work has been done in the past couple of years to strengthen the Group's balance sheet and improve its financial controls. Andrew's experience and drive will benefit the Group as we seek to progress our operational and financial performance."
