FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 15 SEPTEMBER 2010
CHEMRING GROUP PLC
INCIDENT AT KILGORE FLARES
Chemring Group PLC ("Chemring" or "the Company") confirms that late on 14 September 2010 a fire started in one of its specialist assembly facilities at Kilgore Flares in Tennessee. This facility is used to perform the final assembly of the MJU-7 expendable decoy. Our pressed flare, extruded flare, large flare and advanced flare facilities that are used for the manufacture of the vast majority of expendable decoys were unaffected by the incident.
Although the fire was contained, three employees sustained flash burns in the incident and two were treated for stress. A full and immediate investigation into the cause of the incident has been launched in co-operation with the local regulatory authorities.
Subject to agreement with the local regulatory authorities on the exact timing of the production restart, the incident is not expected to have a material impact on the Company's 2010 full year results.
