BOARD CHANGES

Appointment of a non-executive Director

The Board of The City of London Investment Trust plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Clare Wardle as a non-executive Director with effect from 1 November 2019. Ms Wardle will be a member of the Audit Committee and the Nominations Committee.

Clare is General Counsel and Company Secretary of Coca-Cola European Partners plc which she joined in May 2016. Between 2010 and May 2016, Clare played a leading role in many development and expansion projects as Group General Counsel at Kingfisher - Europe's largest home improvement retail group. She is the Chair of Basketball England and a non-executive Director of Modern Pentathlon GB. Before joining Kingfisher, Clare was Company Secretary and General Counsel of Tube Lines Limited and prior to this she was Head of Post Office Ltd Legal.  Clare was called to the bar in 1984, joined Lovells in 1986 and moved to the Post Office in 1996. 

She is formerly a non-executive Director of ViaCode Limited and a trustee of the Friendly Almshouses.  Clare brings to the Board considerable international experience in risk, governance, competition and compliance.

In accordance with paragraphs 9.6.13 (1) to (6) of the Listing Rules, it is confirmed that there are no additional details to be disclosed in relation to Ms Wardle.
