Review of the period from 1 July 2011 to 30 September 2011
MATERIAL EVENTS OR TRANSACTIONS DURING THE PERIOD
Portfolio: Overall the portfolio remained biased towards multinational companies with below average exposure to the mining and banking sectors. Purchases during the quarter were predominantly through additions to existing holdings.
Gearing: during the quarter, gearing increased from 8% (at 30 June 2011) to 11% (at 30 September 2011). Purchases exceeded sales by £8.7 million.
(Discount)/Premium: the share price was trading at a discount of 0.3% to the net asset value (income-inclusive, with debt at par value) at 30 September 2011 (at 30 June 2011: premium of 0.5%).
With debt calculated at fair value, the share price was trading at a premium of 1.9% to the net asset value at 30 September 2011 (at 30 June 2011: premium of 2.4%).
Share Capital: during the quarter, the Company issued 3,375,000 shares for net proceeds of £9.0 million.
Dividends: a fourth interim dividend of 3.35p per ordinary share in respect of the year ending 30 June 2011 was paid on 31 August 2011 to shareholders on the register on 29 July 2011. On 1 September 2011 the Board declared a first interim dividend of 3.35p per ordinary share, in respect of the year ending 30 June 2012, to be paid on 30 November 2011 to holders registered at the close of business on 28 October 2011.
There are no other material events or transactions to report.
