TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc (the 'Company') announces that on 9 November 2011 it transferred 5,662 ordinary shares of 25 pence each from treasury to participants in its employee share plans. The transfer price was £nil.

Following the transfer of these shares, the Company holds 4,333,395 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 146,227,073 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
