TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc (the 'Company') announces that on 18 March 2010 it transferred 5,157 ordinary shares of 25 pence each from treasury to participants in its employee share plans.  The transfer price was 436.32 pence.

Following the transfer of these shares, the Company holds 5,081,722 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 144,585,601 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
