Saint-Gobain's Abrasives Activity strengthens its presence in South America through the acquisition of Abrasivos Argentinos S.A. and Dancan S.A.
Saint-Gobain has just finalized the acquisition of Abrasivos Argentinos S.A. and Dancan S.A. in Argentina, together with their subsidiaries in Brazil and Uruguay, specialized in the production of coated abrasives and masking tapes. Founded in 1944, these two companies are headquartered in Buenos Aires. Their abrasive products are used in the metals, automotive, timber and construction industries, and distributed in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. Their aggregated turnover amounted to €27million in 2010, for a total workforce of 450 employees.
Abrasivos Argentinos S.A. has a plant in Buenos Aires and Dancan S.A. is located in Pilar, 60km from the Argentinean capital.
By acquiring these two companies with a strong local foothold, Saint-Gobain's Abrasives Activity strengthens its position in Argentina, the second abrasives market in South America.
