Cranswick acquires North Wales Foods
Cranswick plc ('Cranswick'), the Yorkshire based food producer, today announces
the acquisition of North Wales Foods Limited ('NWF'). NWF is involved in the
supply of sandwiches and sandwich ingredients to a wide range of customers based
primarily in Wales and North West England. This acquisition extends Cranswick's
range of products, which includes continental foods and gourmet sausages, into
another growth area of the food market.
NWF had net assets of £1.0m at 30 April 2002, the date of its most recent
audited accounts.
Cranswick's chief executive Martin Davey commented 'We are delighted that NWF is
joining Cranswick. NWF has an excellent record of growth which we expect to see
continue and we look forward to working with the management team in achieving
this. The acquisition will be modestly earnings enhancing from day one and its

For the year ended March 2002 Cranswick reported turnover of £225.6m and an
increase in profit before taxation and goodwill amortisation of 49 per cent to
£17.5m. The Company plans to announce results for the six months ended 30
September 2002 on 21 November 2002.
Cranswick's activities are focused on the food and agribusiness sectors with
involvement in the manufacture of pig and poultry feed, pig production and the
supply of a range of pork based products including fresh pork, gourmet sausages,
cooked meat and continental foods.
