Statement re. factory fire

Cranswick plc (the 'Company' or 'Group')


In the early hours of 2nd June 2004 there was a fire at the Cranswick Country
Foods sausage factory at Cottingham near Hull. Fortunately no-one was injured
and the fire was contained to one part of the building.

It is anticipated that production will re-commence by the end of the week in the
part of the factory not directly impacted and that facilities elsewhere within
the Group will be converted to sausage production during the next week.

The Company has adequate insurance cover for both material damage and business
interruption and the profit impact is unlikely to be material.
