                                AGM statement

At today's Annual General Meeting, John Matthews, Chairman of Crest Nicholson
PLC, made the following statement:

"The strong and sustained demand for our new homes, to which I referred in
January, has continued in February and March. We continue to achieve good
prices on rising volumes. The successful implementation of production
efficiencies should enable us to take full advantage of this market."

"I have referred previously to our ability to bring land through the planning
process expeditiously. This, coupled with the strong trading that we are
enjoying, underpins our confidence for the current year."
