                            CRH plc ('the Company')

The Company has been notified by The Capital Group Companies, Inc. on behalf of
its affiliates, including Capital International S.A., Capital International,
Inc., Capital International Limited and Capital Guardian Trust Company (together
'CGC') of an amendment to its notification dated 21st November 2001. As at 21st
November 2001, CGC, had an interest, as defined in the Companies Act 1990, in
26,158,887 Ordinary Shares of CRH plc, representing 5.01 per cent of the
Company's issued Ordinary Share Capital, and not 33,952,933 Ordinary Shares
(6.51 per cent) as previously notified.
