RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 7th January 2009 it transferred to a participant in an employee share scheme 1,164 Ordinary Shares at Stg£9.66 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transaction, CRH plc holds 16,202,841 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 532,299,537.
