SHARE REPURCHASE PROGRAMME


CRH plc announces that on 6th March 2008, UBS Limited purchased, on behalf of
the Company, 120,000 Ordinary Shares of €0.32 each in CRH plc at prices between
€24.61 and €25.40 per Ordinary Share.  The purchased shares will be held as Treasury
Shares.

CRH plc also announces that on 6th March 2008 it transferred to the Trustees of
its employee share participation schemes 29,627 Ordinary Shares at €24.03 per
Ordinary Share.

Following the above transactions, CRH plc holds 6,335,759 Ordinary Shares in
Treasury.  The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is
540,891,435
