RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 22nd October 2008 it transferred to a participant of an employee share scheme 1,712 Ordinary Shares at €10.63 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transaction, CRH plc holds 16,537,742 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 531,582,694.
