Press Release 19 June 2007
Cyan Holdings plc
('Cyan' or 'the Company')
New agreement speeds Cyan's entry into the wireless market
Cyan Holdings plc (AIM: CYAN.L) the fabless semiconductor company specialising
in the development of low powered, configurable microcontroller chips, is
pleased to announce that it has completed a joint development and marketing
agreement with Adaptive Modules Ltd an established supplier of wireless modules
to European Markets which will speed up Cyan's entry into the wireless market.
Kenn Lamb, CEO of Cyan commented: 'Following my description of Cyan's new
strategy at the recent AGM I am delighted to be making our first announcement of
a partnership in the wireless communication space. Cyan already had a
capability in wireless communication and has developed valuable application
software that enables flexible and low cost production solutions. Adaptive
Modules already had a customer requirement and by agreeing a partnership where
Adaptive become the manufacturing and sales channel with a product enhanced by
Cyan's MCU and programmed by Cyan's software tools will accelerate and broaden
Cyan's penetration of this fast growing market. This initial module
demonstrates that Cyan can offer cost savings through a reduced bill of
materials, faster time to market through use of our graphical tools and added
value through application software which is sold at extra cost alongside the
MCU's as an integral part of this agreement. I expect to be making further
announcements in the future demonstrating Cyan's commitment to a new partner
based go-to-market strategy.'
Adaptive Modules (http://www.adaptblue.com/wireless_technologies.htm) and Cyan
will produce a new range of low cost wireless communication modules fully
supported by Cyan's point and click graphical development tool. The agreement
licenses an existing wireless module design developed by Cyan together with
application software integrated as a complete system. Adaptive Modules will
manufacture and market this module and future modules to its broad base of
customers. Adaptive's customers may choose to simply deploy this module in their
production product, or to modify or extend the software by using a modified but
integral Cyan graphical software development system.
Andrew Aslett, Managing Director of Adaptive Modules commented 'The combination
of Cyan's MCU and the software development system offers our customers a very
attractive combination of a low cost, production ready product, but with the
flexibility to add their own application specific software. Cyan's technology
makes it very easy for us to develop new modules to suit our customers'
requirements and allows our customers to easily add their own differentiating
features. We became familiar with Cyan while developing this first module for a
specific customer and are delighted to be able to extend the module's
availability to all our customers and agree a development program that will
extend our range of Cyan based modules to additional wireless communication
standards.'
