De La Rue plc, the cash to secure transactions group, has today confirmed the
transfer of the business of its South African Cash Systems subsidiary, De La
Rue Systems, with GPT Cash Systems Pty Ltd, the South African integrated
payment systems business. The business disposal is not material to the De La
Rue Group.
Under the terms of the deal, De La Rue Systems, South Africa has taken a 20%
equity stake in GPT Cash Systems.
Ian Richter, managing director of De La Rue Systems, South Africa, said: 'GPT
Cash Systems has had an existing relationship with De La Rue to distribute our
cash handling products in South Africa for several years. The merging of our
operations is a natural progression of this close working relationship. The
tie up with GPT is clearly a better deployment of our resources throughout the
region ensuring focus on shared customers and better use of the technical
skills of existing employees.'
The De La Rue Group's other divisional operations in South Africa will
continue to be handled by its office in Johannesburg offering first line
support and contact with customers.
