                            Appointment of Director



Acal  plc  ('the  Company') announces the appointment  of  Mr  Richard  Allen,
Managing  Director of Acal Electronics Limited, as a Director of  the  Company
with effect from 8 May 2000.

Prior  to joining the Acal Group in June last year, Mr Allen, who is aged  50,
was Chief Executive of IEC Group Limited, a European distributor of electronic
components.   He  has  over 15 years' experience in the electronic  components
industry.
