dotdigital receives ISO accreditation on environmental management
dotdigital Group plc (AIM: DOTD), the leading 'SaaS' provider of an omnichannel marketing automation and customer engagement platform, announces that, as part of its dotgreen initiative, it has achieved its goal of becoming carbon neutral* and has been awarded the ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification.
ISO 14001 is an internationally agreed standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system. This certification has been implemented to monitor and continuously improve dotdigital's environmental performance and comes shortly after the Group was awarded the ISO 27001 accreditation, continuing to demonstrate operational excellence against internationally recognised standards in areas of privacy, security and sustainability.
The dotgreen initiative, launched at the end of 2019, set out to drive sustainability improvements throughout the organisation and reduce the impact of its operations on the environment. Action taken includes a global training program to educate internal stakeholders about sustainability and introducing referral codes to encourage staff to choose green energy suppliers for their homes.
As part of this initiative, dotdigital has also offset its unavoidable emissions through projects including two world-leading clean cooking projects in Kenya and Ghana, which aim to cut carbon emissions and reduce deforestation, while improving lives by halving fuel bills for families and decreasing exposure to toxic fumes. Further information on dotdigital's environmental policy can be found in the Company's 2020 annual report and its publicly accessible trust centre.
The Group also announces it has joined longstanding customer The Woodland Trust as a Corporate Member, as part of its commitment to protecting forestry in the UK.
Steve Shaw, CTO of dotdigital, commented:
"We recognise that every business needs to play its part in combating climate change, and it was important to our staff and customers that we led by example through the dotgreen initiative.
Sustainability is embedded within our values and culture, forming an important part of our long-term growth strategy, and we are confident that we are the greenest choice of omnichannel marketing technology for growing brands."
Darren Moorcroft, CEO Woodland Trust, commented:
"We are delighted that dotdigital have joined as a Corporate Member of the Woodland Trust and are grateful for their funding of £5,000 which will help us address both the nature and climate crisis by protecting woods and trees UK-wide. dotdigital have been a supplier of the Trust for five years so it's especially heart-warming to see that our relationship will continue to grow in different ways to support delivery of our cause."
* dotdigital has become carbon neutral in Scope 1, Scope 2, and selected Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions (including business travel, major cloud infrastructure providers, and data centres), as defined by the GHG Protocol.
