                   NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTERESTS IN SHARES



On 27 October 2006, Drax received 2 notifications from Morgan Stanley.


The first notification advised that on 25 October 2006, Morgan Stanley
Securities Limited ('MSSL') had acquired an interest in the ordinary shares of
Drax that resulted in a total holding of 11,568,250 shares, being approximately
3.13% of the issued share capital of Drax.


The second notification advised that on 26 October 2006, MSSL had disposed of 
an interest in the ordinary share capital of Drax with the result that MSSL and 
the Morgan Stanley group companies which are direct or indirect holding 
companies of MSSL, no longer hold a notifiable interest in Drax.


For information, the number of ordinary shares of 11 1/29 pence each of Drax
currently in issue is 368,921,151.
