BILLAM PLC
(AIM)
AGM STATEMENT
The Board of Billam Plc ('Billam' or 'the Company'), the company specialising in
investment for future growth, announces that at the AGM of the Company held
earlier today, all resolutions were passed.
Chairman, Victor Beamish, gave the following update:
Result for 2003
The business resumed its growth, with progress being achieved in all the
investee companies, and assets growing by more than £2 million. At 31 December
2003 net assets per share were 65 pence.
Progress in the first three months of 2004
The progress with the portfolio companies continues:
EiRx Therapeutics plc's shares were admitted to AIM on 13 January 2004. The
flotation was well received and shares continue to trade at a premium to the
price on admission.
Sirus Pharmaceuticals Limited was sold to Arakis Limited in an all share
acquisition. Arakis Limited is an emerging speciality pharmaceutical company.
The enlarged better resourced company should reduce risk and increase the
chances of commercial success.
There have been significant business developments announced at other of the
investee companies including CybIT Holdings plc and TRI-MEX Group Limited.
Free share trading facility
The free share trading facility offered for shareholders owning 1,000 shares or
less, who want to realise their investment but were put off by the transaction
cost, has been well received so is being extended until 7 April 2004.
Newly developed website
In March, Billam launched its new website (www.billamplc.co.uk), which will be
regularly updated with portfolio and Company news. Shareholders and other
interested parties can obtain updates by email if they register on the website.
Outlook
The Board believes that provided the economic climate and stock market
conditions are maintained there is good cause to believe that the portfolio
companies will increasingly prosper and there will continue to be opportunities
for flotations. This should allow Billam to hold the majority of its portfolio
in quoted shares by the end of 2004.
