Entain Secures International Standards for Environmental Management and Occupational Health and Safety
Accreditation comes as Entain is upgraded to AA status by leading ESG ratings Agency, MSCI
Entain plc (LSE: ENT), the global sports-betting and gaming group, is pleased to announce that it has achieved the internationally recognised standards ("ISOs") for environmental management and occupational health and safety, becoming the first operator in the betting and gaming industry to do so.
The ISO certification reflects the priority Entain has placed on creating a 'Best Place to Work' environment, a key element of the Group's Sustainability Charter . This has been an area of considerable focus throughout the unprecedented challenges of Covid-19, with great emphasis put on ensuring the wellbeing of the Group's 24,000 strong workforce.
Entain is now certified by the British Standards Institute for ISO 45001 for Health and Safety and ISO 14001 for the Environment for its UK Retail, Stadia and Office estate. These standards reflect the Group's successful implementation of systems and processes to ensure it has an effective environmental management system ("EMS") and framework to deliver against its objective to reduce its environmental impact (ISO 14001) and its health and safety practices protect employees and visitors from work-related accidents and diseases (ISO 45001).
The accreditation comes in the same week as the leading ESG ratings agency, MSCI, upgraded Entain to AA status, marking it as a leader in ESG practices. It is the second consecutive upgrade for Entain following MSCI's biannual review process, with the Group having previously moved to A status in September 2020. It also serves as another demonstration of Entain's strategic focus on delivering sustainability and growth, an ambition which was furthered by the Group's recent commitment to become net zero for carbon emissions by no later than 2035 .
Commenting on the announcement Steve Howells, Entain's Group Director of HSSE said:
"Achieving these international standards in the same week as our upgrade to AA status by MSCI is welcome recognition of the rigour with which we approach ESG and have embedded environmental management and health and safety throughout our business. More importantly it reflects our focus on promoting the wellbeing of all of our colleagues, enabling us to build a culture where behaving ethically and responsibly runs through the DNA of our business."
