FDM Wins Multi-Million Pound EADS Training Contract
17 March 2008: FDM Group PLC today announces it has signed a training contract
with EADS. FDM will, as prime supplier, provide a complete training solution for
the Fire and Rescue Control ("FiReControl") project which impacts all the Fire
and Rescue Services within England. The contract is worth approximately £2.0
million for the initial course development, with the potential of being up to
£6.0 million depending on training delivery options undertaken, over an initial
three year period.
FiReControl has been initiated by the government in order to equip England's
Fire and Rescue Services with a robust and efficient national call-taking and
mobilisation infrastructure. England is one of the first countries in the world
to implement a major national network of fire control centres. The FDM training
solution will be designed to ensure early and efficient user adoption keeping
the Fire and Rescue Service ("FRS") at the forefront of emergency service
excellence.
Sheila Flavell, Global Services Director of FDM, comments: "FDM has established
a reputation for excellence of delivering training and consultancy for large
scale change programmes. This has led to our appointment as a consortium member
and prime supplier to EADS Defence & Security. Our involvement will ensure a
smooth transition to the FiReControl solution during the rollout phase. What's
more, our expert consultancy will help to equip FRS members with the skills
required to initiate their own internal training schemes."
Ian Griffiths, FiReControl Project Director at EADS DS, adds: "The aim of
FiReControl is to create a resilient network for the FRS and to ensure that
every Fire Service in England has access to the best mobilisation and control
technology. This will allow for a more resilient response to major incidents,
such as the recent flooding that afflicted the United Kingdom. FDM's
involvement is vital in ensuring that the project is a success from the start."
