FORD MOTOR COMPANY NAMES STEVEN K. HAMP VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OF STAFF
          
     •    Hamp to step down as president of The Henry Ford; will join 
          Ford Dec. 1.

     •    Will report to Chairman and CEO Bill Ford.

     •    Focus will be driving innovation, culture change from the 
          Chairman's office.

     •    Jim Vella will become a Ford visiting professor.

DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 4, 2005 - Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) announced today the
appointment of Steven K. Hamp as vice-president and chief of staff, reporting to
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bill Ford. In his new role, Hamp will
assist the chairman and CEO in the administration of his day-to-day duties,
particularly as Bill Ford steps up his drive to build and foster an innovation-
driven culture at the global auto maker.

Hamp, 57, will focus on strategic issues, alignment of senior leadership, and
integration of strategy into the Company's operations. He joins Ford after a 27-
year career at The Henry Ford, during which he rose to serve as the historical
institution's president. Under his leadership, The Henry Ford's operating
structure was fundamentally revised and expanded to include the establishment of
the Henry Ford Academy, a public high school; the Rouge Factory Tour, Michigan's
only auto assembly plant tour open to the public; and other new user experiences
and services, such as an IMAX theatre. Hamp also led the largest capital
campaign in the museum's history.

'I've seen firsthand the kind of impact Steve can have on an organization. He
has an amazing ability to get people to work together productively and to deal
with the complexities of the moment without losing sight of the overall
strategy,' said Bill Ford, Chairman and CEO. 'He's proven himself to be a
visionary, an innovator, an insightful and trusted counselor, and a very good
friend to me and the Ford Motor Company. Those personal strengths, as well as
his tremendous leadership skills, are why he has been so highly sought after as
a board member and advisor to businesses, economic development groups, civic
organizations and foundations. He will be a terrific asset to me and to the
company as we drive the turnaround of our business.'

In 1999, The Detroit News recognized Hamp as a Michiganian of the Year. In 2000,
he was honored as the first recipient of the Helen and William Milliken
Distinguished Service Award by the Michigan Environmental Council. And in 2002,
he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Michigan and
the Civic Leader Award from the Governor's Arts Awards. Hamp has a Bachelors
degree from Butler University, and Masters degrees from Indiana University and
the University of Michigan.

Mr. Hamp is married to Sheila Ford Hamp, has three children, and resides in Ann
Arbor, Michigan.

He succeeds Jim Vella, 49, who will become a Ford visiting professor. Vella
joined Ford in 1988 as a producer for the Ford Communications Network. He held a
series of public affairs positions before being named vice president of Public
Affairs in 2001. A native of Detroit, he previously worked in television news in
Detroit, San Diego, and Columbus, Ohio.

'I have a tremendous amount of gratitude for the job Jim Vella has done for me
and for the company,' Bill Ford said. 'He has proven to be an able and loyal
counselor. I wish him the best in this new position, and I look forward to
continuing our relationship.'
